Yep, I am talking about those things that you just can’t let pass you by with a potential mate. Here are most of mine. Tell me what you think!

1) Racist — I definitely can’t tolerate someone who openly or even privately has a distaste for a specific ethnic group. This is not healthy and downright scary in the days and times we live in.

2) Overweight — Call me shallow or call me hypocritical but I just can’t get with someone who is overweight. I have tried before and because of my healthy lifestyle it just doesn’t work for me.

3) Vain — I mention this in terms of someone who is so focused on how people look, makeup and constantly in the mirror. I am referring to people who are over the top with this. You know who they are. If that is the case, show me the door. I’m out.

4) Not independent - When I speak about this, I am not talking about the ladies who could be living at home because of certain financial or life situations. I am speaking about the young ladies who have to get moms or pops approval before they make any decision at all. “Should I go to the movies? Let me go ask my mom.”  “Should i buy this new jacket? Let me call my dad.”  Basically, if you are living your life for the 100% approval of moms and/or dad with every decision, it’s time for me to tap out.

5) No career goals — This is not referring to if you want to stay home while kids are young. I am referring to ladies who are just working to work and have no goals for themselves to grow into a career. It could be as an artist, a politician, a manager of a retail store … but career goals are a necessity. I need you to push me to climb higher and higher for us.

6) No concept of the consequences of spending money/budgeting — One of the main reasons for divorce is finances and money. If you love to shop and charge up the credit card and then are clueless about why the lights are out because we had to pay off the credit card bill, perhaps you aren’t the one for me. I am all for spending money and treating yourself , but it has to fit into somewhat of the group budget.

7) Consistent poor grammar — Now if you didn’t grow up here in the United States and are still learning the language, you can get a pass on this one because English is confusing to many people who didn’t grow up in the language. However, if you do not fall into this category, please be able to speak properly. It would just bother me to no end if you kept splitting your verbs and talking in the past and present tense in one sentence.

8 ) Has Children- This one is down the list for a reason. As I get older, I have to be more and more flexible with this rule because life happens. I have been there before and I am really, really not sure if I want to go there again.
